Boost immunity

The omega-3 fatty acids in our gently-cooked recipes help support your pup’s immune system as they explore the world.

"Finally! Food that Piper enjoys! I love that I can see the veggies that he's eating and the food actually looks palatable, even to me. The service at The Farmer’s Dog has been extraordinary.”

“Thor is an Olde English Bulldog who is 7 months old. Quick benefits transitioning to TFD: his poops becoming solid, fewer room-clearing farts, having more energy, and his hair/fur seems more vibrant.”

“In the 10 months I have had her, she has never been ready to eat, it was always a struggle and I usually would end up spoon-feeding her to eat a partial meal. Now, Allie is right there ready to eat when her bowl reaches the floor. I have also noticed her attitude and energy level are much better.”

Frequently asked questions

What are the recipes and ingredients?

The Farmer’s Dog offers a variety of simple, human-grade recipes made with different proteins and vegetables to account for different needs and preferences. Our board-certified nutritionists carefully formulate each recipe to be 100% complete and balanced according to AAFCO standards.

Every recipe consists of simple whole foods, balanced with vitamins and minerals. That’s it. We cook our food to destroy pathogens but retain our ingredients’ powerful nutrients.

You can find the specific ingredient lists for the meal plan we recommend on the “Your Plan” section of our meal plan questionnaire.

What does the Farmer's Dog cost?

Every dog is different, and your exact plan and price options will depend on your dog(s) and their food needs, factoring in age, weight, activity, recipe choice, and more. Plans start at about $2/day, and delivery options mostly range from 1 week to 3 months of food and include free shipping. Because we deliver the food right to your door, your dollars are going towards the highest quality ingredients, and not to the mark-ups of a big retail store.

To see your exact pricing options, simply fill out our our short questionnaire.

Do nutritionists formulate your food?

Yes, nutritionists have formulated The Farmer’s Dog food since we started the company in 2014. Every recipe is formulated by on-staff, board-certified nutritionists to be complete and balanced according to AAFCO standards. We employ both PhD, board-certified companion animal nutritionists and Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionists®.

Is your food suitable for puppies?

Yes! Puppies have particular nutritional requirements, and not all dog foods meet them. Our recipes are formulated by board-certified nutritionists to be complete and balanced for growing puppies. We have recipe options suitable for every life stage, and we’ll recommend a plan that’s just right for your dog’s age – you can enter your dog’s exact age on our dog profile questionnaire.

Do I need to refrigerate the food?

Yes! Since our food is fresh and we donʼt use any preservatives, itʼs essential that you treat it like real food (because it is!). All of our recipes are gently cooked to preserve the ingredients’ nutritional value and moisture. They’re then quickly frozen for safe shipping to your door. Keep the food at a safe temperature in a refrigerator or freezer. Your box will also include an easy guide on how to store and feed the food properly (it’s very simple!).

Do I need to cook the food?

No need, our gently cooked food is pre-portioned and ready-to-serve! You can serve it directly from the fridge or add a touch of hot water if your dog prefers warm food.

How do shipments work? Do you ship nationwide?

We currently ship to the 48 contiguous states. With our meal plans, customers receive deliveries of fresh food on a recurring and flexible basis. Plans are personalized to meet your dog’s caloric needs and come pre-portioned to make feeding—and weight management—easy. Your pup’s food arrives frozen in environmentally friendly boxes that keep the food safe. We perfectly time deliveries to make sure you never run out of food and you will have the ability to adjust deliveries at any time online.

At what age is a dog considered a puppy?

Generally, dogs are considered puppies until they reach one year of age. However, for some large or giant breeds, the growth phase can extend up to 18 months or even 2 years.

For the love of dogs.
